Lombok Gili Trawangan Island - North Lombok Regency
Wonder why everybody is talking about Gili Trawangan these days which makes the island is getting pretty crowded in the high and peak seasons. We therefore highly recommend our guests not to show up easily without prior booking and directly to find a room when you are here, as hundreds of people end up sleeping on the beach every year since all accommodations are full. Advanced booking is strongly recommended. Trawangan or Gili T is the largest island between Gili Meno and Gili Air, but you can walk around the island within less than 2 hours. Gili T is the only island with all kind of hill offering amazing views of Mt Agung in Bali to the West and the mighty Mt. Rinjani in Lombok at the East. Climbing up for sunset or sunrise and taking photos up there is well worth the effort on a clear day.
No cars or motorbikes are allowed on the Gili Islands. As with all the Gilis, we do not have any motorized transportation on Gili Trawangan , electricity needs are supplied by generators and fresh water is imported by boat. The first Back-packers started to come to Gili Trawangan in the late 80’s and early 90’s when the first dive shops were set up and the only accommodation was simple bungalow rooms with no electricity or even generator. It once has rapidly developed a reputation as a “party island” with no police around to watch what people were smoking or what sort of mushrooms went into the omelettes. The party scene still goes nowadays and Gili Trawangan is the only island where crowds of merry-makers are allowed to grooving into early hours of the nights. Our restaurants on Trawangan are also rapidly expanding more than any other islands. While the seafood barbecue remains ever popular, there are also Japanese, Indian, Italian, Mexican, candle-lit fine dining, coffee shops, organic menus, English fish and chips and many others available on the spot.

Gili T is also an ideal place where you can do a wider range of things. All of the three islands have exquisite beaches, calm water, great diving and snorkelling experiences, glass bottom boat tours, along with some excellent spa facilities, stables for horse-riding, sea kayaks for rent, Karma Kayak and an unforgettable surf break on the southern tip of the island. Trawangan is also famous and recognized as the base for many Bio-Rock reef-regeneration projects which are currently taking place in the channel between Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno. Things become very interesting to explore the underwater garden by snorkelling and diving.
